This field of study explores how AI can complement and enable advancements in nuclear science, engineering, and technologies in prediction and modeling, anomaly detection, feature extraction, estimation, and control. Specific applications can be found in the design and operation of nuclear energy facilities, in the design and fabrication of materials, components, and systems, the deployment, operation, and analysis of multi-sensor systems including sensor networks, and robotics. In addition, the concept of digital twins is underpinned with AI to enable effective and safe means in the design, construction, and operation, as well as in the decontamination and decommissioning of current and future nuclear facilities.
