Dr. Fei Teng is a Staff Scientist of Materials and Fuels Complex (MFC) in Idaho National Laboratory (INL). He was a member of the group that received the U.S. Department of Energy, Secretary of Energy Achievement Awards in 2024. He was selected as INL MFC 2023 Mentor of The Year. He received his M.S and Ph.D. from Oregon State University. Teng joined INL in 2019 as a research scientist and was promoted to staff scientist in 2022. He has extensive experience in both ex-situ and in-situ electron microscope small-scale mechanical testing for both nuclear fuels and structural materials. His research on fuel includes the study of mechanical stability of TRISO particle fuel by using micro mechanical testing after neutron irradiation, and the microstructural change and corresponding impact on mechanical integrity in U-Mo metallic fuels. His research fields also cover the thermal and irradiation degradation of Ni-based alloys and corresponding influence on corrosion behavior in molten salts environments.
