Ali Hanks is a project scientist in the Vetter group, working as a student mentor on a range of projects with applications in radiation mapping, neutron detection, and novel detector materials. She also works as the lead of the department outreach program, RadWatch, helping to build better communication with communities about radiation in their environment, and building an international network of multi-sensor systems that connect schools and students directly to environmental and radiation data locally and across the globe.
Ali also works as a lecturer teaching a course she designed – Engineering 11: a hands-on class in which students build radiation detection and environmental sensor systems, learn how to collect and analyze data using those systems, and explore radiation in our environment. More recently, she has served as the lecturer for NE100.
